From Canvas to Couture Gallery

Since the 2008 season of the TV show Project Runway, I’ve completed weekly challenges and final collections at 1:6 scale for Model Muse dolls made by Mattel. In this series, “From Canvas to Couture,” I painted unbleached muslin and created designs without cutting the fabric. After photographing the dolls, I removed stitching and accessories and turned the dresses back into paintings. The reason I enjoy Project Runway is because viewers get to see the creative process of designers. My doll fashions are my tribute to the artists who make wearable art. I hope you enjoy the whimsy of the Model Muse fashions.

These photos were shot while the works were hanging at Houston's Barnaby's Cafe in August 2011.
